Dr. Pathuri Madhu has been performing hair transplant procedures for the past ten years and has a strong medical background in dermatology.  For the last 4 years, he’s dedicated himself exclusively to practicing the most sophisticated and advanced techniques in surgical hair restoration, leaving his dermatology practice to his associates.  Dr. Madhu is very hands-on and likes to be involved in every step of the procedure from harvesting the strip to placing a percentage of the follicular units himself – especially in the crucial hairline and temporal areas.
Dr. Madhu and his large experienced staff of 12 surgical assistants have the ability to perform large ultra refined hair transplants exceeding 3000 follicular units when appropriate for the patient, the largest of which has been 4800. 
Dr. Madhu’s expertise involves artistic design of the hairline to mimick nature and using minimally invasive techniques to minimize trauma to the scalp.  Follicular units are dissected and trimmed under microscopes and carefully placed by Dr. Madhu and his staff into recipient sites to maximize hair growth yield.   Dr. Madhu occasionally uses a few larger multi-follicular units in those he believes are qualified candidates to increase the appearance of density in certain areas.

Dr. Madhu uses tools as small as .7mm to reduce the risk of post-surgical trauma induced telogen effluvium (shock loss).  By using ultra refined tools, Dr. Madhu and his staff can fit microscopically prepared grafts perfectly into tiny incisions and densely pack up to 50 follicular units per square centimeter (FU/cm2) when appropriate for the patient.
Dr. Madhu makes use of parallel (sagital) incisions for single hairs while perpendicular (coronal/lateral) incisions are reserved for multi-haired follicular units.  While Dr. Madhu’s use of sagital incisions for single hairs helps him and his staff in identifying slit sizes, he employs the lateral slit technique for multi-haired grafts because he feels it provides a greater illusion of density. 
Dr. Madhu uses a single blade to harvest the donor strip and employs the open method of dissection using the four hooks method to minimize transection.  By separating the edges of the wound, Dr. Madhu can easily see and avoid accidentally severing and damaging precious hair follicles.  The wound is closed using the trichophytic closure technique with an external continues mattress suture and intermittent nylon stitches.  Dr. Madhu believes this significantly reduces tension on the wound and minimizes the appearance of the scar. 
Dr. Madhu is a member of the ISHRS and to date, is the only physician in India board certified as an ABHRS diplomate.
